Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

To use Scouts+, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Currently reside in the United States
• Have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements
• Provide accurate and truthful information when creating your account

By creating an account, you confirm you meet these requirements. Accounts are personal and should not be shared with others.

2. What Scouts+ Is

Scouts+ is a community platform that:

• Connects adults who want to learn practical skills
• Provides a badge system to track skill development
• Facilitates connections between community members through troops
• Offers physical badges as rewards for verified achievements

3. What Scouts+ Is Not

To be clear about our role:

• We do not organize, supervise, or control activities
• We do not perform background checks on members
• We do not verify credentials or certifications
• We do not provide insurance for activities
• We are not affiliated with Scouting America (BSA), Girl Scouts of the USA, or any official scouting organization

4. Assumption of Risk

Many Scouts+ activities involve outdoor adventures, physical challenges, and new experiences. These activities carry inherent risks including but not limited to:

• Physical injury (minor to severe)
• Property damage or loss
• Exposure to weather and environmental hazards
• Interactions with wildlife
• Equipment failure
• Actions of other participants

By using Scouts+, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with activities you choose to participate in. You understand that you are responsible for your own safety and decision-making.

5. Community Members

Troop leaders, counselors, and fellow scouts are independent community members, not Scouts+ employees or agents. Everyone is volunteering their time to build community and share knowledge.

You agree to treat all community members with respect, communicate clearly, and look out for one another's safety and wellbeing.

6. Safety Guidelines

We strongly recommend following these safety practices:

• Meet new troops or members in public places initially
• Tell a friend or family member where you're going and when you'll return
• Bring appropriate gear (phone, first aid kit, water, etc.)
• Know your limits—it's okay to sit activities out
• Trust your instincts—if something feels wrong, it probably is
• Consider personal liability insurance if organizing group activities
• Start with beginner-level challenges and progress gradually

7. User Content

When you upload content (photos, videos, text) to Scouts+:

• You retain ownership of your content
• You grant Scouts+ a license to display, store, and share your content within the platform
• You confirm you have the right to share the content
• You agree not to share content that is illegal, harmful, or violates others' rights

Respect others' privacy—always get permission before posting photos or videos of other people.

8. Subscriptions & Payments

• Free accounts have full access to digital badges and core features
• Paid subscriptions provide additional benefits like physical badges and ad-free experience
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled
• You can cancel anytime; access continues until the end of your billing period
• Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis
• Payments are processed securely through Stripe

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• You agree to release and hold harmless Scouts+, its operators, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or losses arising from your use of the platform or participation in activities
• Scouts+ is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
• We are not liable for actions of community members or third parties
• Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and defend Scouts+ against any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the platform, your activities, or your violation of these terms.

11. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

• Violate these terms of service
• Engage in harmful, fraudulent, or illegal activity
• Harass or endanger other community members
• Misrepresent your identity or qualifications

You may delete your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or a prominent notice on our website. Continued use of Scouts+ after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Delaware.
